My journey into the "dark side" of the smoking fetish

I feel the urge to post about my journey into the dark side of the smoking fetish. I welcome any feedback, either pro or con. I was born in 1966 and grew up in a small town in the South. My folks were smokers but quit in the early 70's. I can just barely remember seeing them smoke a few times. I was taught that smoking was bad for you and that once you start, you can't quit. My folks pounded this into me from as long as I can remember. Over and over again. So I grew up anti-smoking, or better yet, very anti-smoking. I never saw any of my friends smoke, either male or female. Of course my folks were very careful of who I was allowed to hang around with. The only people I saw smoke while growing up in the 70's were adults and a couple of guys around 18 or 19 years old that lived down the street from me. And I was not allowed to pal around with them, mostly because of my age, about 12 or 13, and I am sure to some extent, their smoking. Around 12 or so, I became interested in girls. To say the least, she had to be a non-smoker if she was going to be someone that I was interested in. I kinda divided girls into two groups: good girls and bad girls. One of the main determining factors was whether or not she smoked. Since most girls around this age did not smoke (at least to my knowledge) there were only a few "bad" girls. Well, my simplistic way of looking at girls got rocked hard within a few weeks during the spring of '79. The first blow came when I overheard my cousin, a "good" girl tell another cousin of mine, also a "good" girl, that she had quit smoking. Now that was a shock to me as I didn't even know she had even started smoking and here she was, quitting at the ripe old age of 14. I asked her about this, and she told me that she started when she was 12. And to boot, this conversation took place in the church yard after Sunday School. The second incidence took place about a month later. I was "going with" a girl that was a year and a half older than me. Very pretty, intelligent, and of course, a "good girl" that didn't smoke. Or so I thought. We were at school in between classes just before the summer break, when she opened her purse to get something. And there it was, a pack of cigarettes. I believe they were Marlboro's but I can't remember exactly. I was too shocked and "upset" about her having cigarettes in her possession to remember what is now to me and those who have the smoking fetish, a very important detail: what brand does she smoke?Anyway I asked her if she smoked and she said that she did. I reminded her that I had asked her if she smoked when we first met and that she had replied that she did not. She said something like "well, we just met, and I don't tell very many people that I smoke...a lot of people smoke...I didn't think it was that important. Well, I "broke" up with her right then. She was the first girl I had ever kissed...and she was a smoker! I was hurt that she had lied to me about her smoking...how could she do that?...not being honest with someone that was your friend. As time would tell, I would run across other girls that would not tell the truth about their smoking habit. I would later find out that not only would a girl tell a lie about her smoking, so would a guy...ME! To be continued....
