specific kind of cigarettes

I'd like to know why some people seem to have a specific thing for certain types of cigarettes, either brands, lengths, etc. To me, that seems deeply psychological, which is why it fascinates me.

I suppose with me, I guess I like a more "standard" cigarette with the tan-colored filter, though I never really thought about it before, and don't care so much about brand, but I'm new to this.
