"I suppose with what I like, standard-length cigarettes with cork filter as you described, when I think about it, it's because there's something "male" about it. Like she's smoking a cigarette that was designed with men in mind, not a cigarette designed to look all lady-like and elegant. But when a very sensual and elegant-looking woman smokes a cigarette like that, it's like she's rebelling, like she took her uncle's (or any other male relative's) cigarettes from his nightstand when she was young, and walked out of the house with a cigarette dangling from her lips, ready to take on the world. Even if she looks and dresses lady-like, she appears rebellious to me in that sense, like she's flouting society's conventions about who she's expected to be."
