I don't mean to be pessimistic, but whether you campaign against bans or not will make no difference. The bans will pass no matter what. You should set yourself free of all ethical conflicts.

As I mentioned on the general board, the problem is that for the most part only fetishists feel sad about public smoking bans. These bans upset many of us to the core of our beings. If only smokers as a group felt the same amount of passion about this issue, but they don't! There are millions and millions of smokers, if they stuck together as a group they could make an impact. Yet smokers are not united. Some are angry at bans, many more are used to the antis coming up with more restrictions and just try to adapt. Then there are some smokers who support and cheer on the antis. It's very fragmented, what we certainly do NOT have going on is a "smokers VS non-smokers" war going on like some think we do, in reality it's a powerful and well organized anti-smoking faction VS scattered individuals.

My prediction is that smokers as a group will stay passive until the antis take it too far (and they will) such as trying to ban smoking in cars, private homes, and illegalize smoking alltogether. When it get's that extreme, we might finally see the anti movement collapse under it's own weight.
