Bone... thank you for your post about the conversation you overheard between the two ladies. I am using it for this fictional story.
====================================================================Jill and Susan were meeting at their favorite neighborhood bar. They didn't go out often, but this was always where they met on the rare occasion that they went out. Susan had called Jill and told her she had an interesting story she was dying to share with her. Jill couldn’t wait to hear this one. Her friend Susan was a wonderful friend and the person most likely to have a crazy adventure. Jill lived vicariously through Susan’s stories now that she was married.
Jill arrived, and after scanning the room, she determined that she was first. She stopped at the bar and ordered a Long Island Iced Tea. Paying the bartender, she wandered over to a small table. The table sat near the door, which gave her a great view of all who came in. She fished into her purse and found her pack of Marlboro Reds. She chuckled briefly to herself, realizing that her and Susan started smoking at the same time seventeen years ago. Could it really be that long she thought to herself, yep, 14 and I’m now 31 she thought. She smoked the cigarette waiting for her best friend. Susan popped in the door and immediately spotted Jill. She came over and the two embraced with a hug. Susan shuffled off to the bar and returned a few minutes later with a drink.
Jill lit another cigarette and Susan followed suit. What gives my friend, Jill inquired. Susan took a deep drag, exhaled toward the ceiling and began to tell her story to Jill.
My old boyfriend Joe called the other night and wanted to stop by Susan explained. He sounded like he needed something so I let him come over. He was very evasive and wouldn’t tell me why he was there. Jill was sipping her drink and taking drags from her Marlboro. Susan wasn’t exactly telling the story fast either. Jill was starting to lose interest, but alas Susan starting getting down to the crux of the story. Susan said that Joe begged her to take him back; he missed her Dominance and her how she kept him in line. Then Susan added, he had the nerve to reach up and take a cigarette from my pack without even asking and lit up.
Jill looked up and said, “I'd have taken my belt and whipped him like a red headed stepchild”
Jill noticed a man walk by right as the two were in the middle of this conversation.
Susan said, “Oh! I tore into his butt good”
Jill responded, "Good, anyhow did you see Frank the other night?"
Susan proceeded to tell Jill about her date with Frank.
Jill pointed out the man who walked by when she and Susan were talking about Joe. Jill and Susan laughed as they wondered what the poor person thought. He probably either thinks were weird, or he is really wondering about who got beat like a redhead stepchild. Bet he is saying to himself I should have come in five minutes earlier Susan joked.
