The ironic part of it is that the government is shooting themselves in the foot every time they raise the tax, because it makes a few more people quit (though there will always be that 10% or so who will keep smoking even if cigaretts cost a thousand bucks a pack). Fewer people buying cigarettes = less tax revenue. I know because I live in CA.
