I'm not certain of the problem you are describing. But I can tell you how to display an image here. Put quotes at the beginning and end of the url along with the following html tag (only where I use [ you use > and where I use ] you use >
[img src="http://www.randomsnaps.com/preview01/volume09/pages/600TashW1285.htm"[/]
When you use the arrows (< >) instead of the brackets ([ ]), it should display the image here as the image from Random Snaps displays below:
