I recently went to one of the Newport websites. You have to have one of their customer ID numbers to log on that you get from being on their mailing lists. I found a current tar/nicotine levels for their cigarettes and clicked on it. The Newport full flavor shorts in the soft pack are listed at 19 mg tar and 1.5 mg nicotine. The Newport full flavor 100's in both the soft pack and box are listed at a whopping 21 mg tar and 1.7 mg nicotine. That shocked even me, those are staggering numbers for a filter cigarette, far higher than any other, at least among those commonly smoked. Perhaps most exciting of all are the Newport Mediums. They are all as high in tar/nicotine as most full flavor brands. The most misleading of these is the Newport Medium 100's in the box which are listed at an amazing 17 mg tar and 1.4 mg nicotine, higher than most full flavors Those numbers really get my fantasies going. Newports have always been a great cigarette as far as my fetish is concerned. I haven't known many ladies that smoked them but I have lots of fantasies in my head revolving around Newports and Newport 100's.

I fear Lorillard will eventually get some unwanted attention because of their Newports and will be pressured to lower the levels of tar/nicotine in their cigarettes so they won't be so addictive, especially since so many blacks and other minorities smoke them. I heard KOOL has already been pressured into closing down their "House of Menthol" website because it was perceived as targeting African-Americans and other minorities.

I love the idea of cigarette companies manipulating their cigarettes and deceiving people with their advertising, it is rich ground that my endless fantasies grow from. It is more than just fantasy though. I was doing a search on Lorillard and Newport the other day. One link I found was to an article describing old company documents being presented at a trial. One corporate memo from the 80's, I think, emphasized the importance of the amount of nicotine in a cigarette because of teenage smokers. It was imperative to get teenagers to become loyal customers of their brand and it had been proved that the best way to do this was to deliver the best nicotine kick. A "Nicotine Enrichment Project" was described which outlined these goals. It sounds like Newport may have achieved some of their goals, as strong as their cigarettes are right now.

Another link was an article about a case in which Lorillard has already admitted guilt and paid a huge settlement. It was apparantly proven that in the 70's and early 80's Lorillard gave away thousands of packs of cigarettes to poor black kids in some of America's inner cities. One of the plaintiffs in the case said she clearly remembered as a young child when a "Newport van" would drive up to their playground and a friendly man would get out and start giving away free packs of cigarettes to kids. "I clearly remember many kids starting to smoke from these free cigarettes, including my sister" said this lady in the article. Her sister had recently died at the age of 52 from emphysema and she had felt compelled to testify in the case because it was the right thing to do not just because of the money. "It's absolutely shameful what Newport did, getting poor young blacks hooked on their product, they knew what they were doing."

Targeting to particular ethnic groups isn't part of my fetish but the fact that handing out free cigarettes to young kids at school playgrounds really did happen is enough to really get my imagination going. BTW, my quotes from the articles on Lorillard are not word for word, just as best I can remember them. I'm not providing links to the articles but they are very easy to find.

I'm sure you know that the smell menthol cigarettes leave on the hair, breath and clothes of a female smoker is different from the smell left by regular cigarettes. I like both equally well but that strong peculiar smell left on the breath of a lady Newport smoker is just indescribeable, I haven't gotten to smell it near as much as I'd like.
Newport is among the ultimate cigarettes from a fetish and fantasy standpoint. They are consistent and satisfying. They look great if you are lucky enough to see a female smoking one, producing magnificent amounts of thick smoke when they exhale.
