Interesting post. You raise any number of good points and we hope others will weigh-in. In the meantime, one thing we would personally like to address concerns this part of your post:

Our opinion on the "most awesome discovery for a SFer" varies slightly.

IOHO the ideal woman would be a female smoker who is an independently wealthy nymphomaniac with at least 38-D's. Yes, she deliberately turns her man on by smoking and feels that he should concentrate on gambling and drinking when he is not engaged in screwing her. She also insists that the man in her life -- the object of her sexual desires, the man she "lives" to smoke for -- live on her estate and eschew any type of gainful employment.

This unfortunately is also very hard to find in real life.

As men, we deserve better. Situation as outlined above should happen much more often.
