At the risk of offending readers and producers, please allow me to offer some of my thoughts on the issue. I do not think we can blame ll 23 and others of his ilk for the unfortunate demise of some producers and the lagging sales of others. I have been a regular visitor to this forum for at least 2 years, and I have noticed that the recent news of Fran and other producers going out of business did not begin until the recent economic meltdown. Therefore, I feel that the bad economic times are contributing far far more to the hardships of producers than the "moochers" like ll 23 and others. For example, I have bought many videos and clips from several producers over the years, but recently I have greatly cut back my purchasing for two reasons. First, the bad economy has forced me to be more frugal, as I am sure many in our community have been likewise forced to do. Secondly, and please forgive me, but I think the quality of the SF releases has gone down lately. It is rare that I find a new release that I would be interested in buying because I feel that the quality isn't there anymore. I recently bought SV's latest release "Missy Smokes" (mainly because I wanted more Courtney footage), but that was the first I had bought in 3 or 4 months when I used to buy something around once a month. As for the "moochers", let's face it, they have been around since the dawn of the Internet. When I first started looking for SF material around 5 years ago, I used to stumble upon these sharing sites (but I NEVER downloaded from or joined any of these sites). But the point is, they have always been around. Yet it seems as if it has only been since the start of the recent economic downturn that everyone is raging against ll 23 and others like him -- blaming them for the problems SF producers face rather than the economy or for the producers' own shortfalls. Please do not misunderstand, I am not defending those who share. I'm just saying that in reality those who share and steal are very likely a small minority of the SF community. I think instead of wasting time denouncing ll 23, that maybe the producers should find ways to improve their work and, perhaps more importantly, focus on surviving the economic downturn like every other business. Again, I apologize if this has offended anyone, especially the producers. Although I am being critical of the producers, please understand that this is meant to be constructive criticism and I really do respect and admire what you do for this community. Thanks to all of the producers who have made this commmunity what it is!
